Yesterday was my little girls birthday (hah little girl...she is 24) and it feels like she was just born. I know everyone said how fast it was going to go but boy is that an understatement. So all you young aprents out there heed the word of an older but wiser mother...time flies.

So i got to spend 2 days with her and her awesome boyfriend. Had a ball and miss her so much already.

Now back to the title of this blog...I sometimes can't believe how oddly people behave. Imature behavior runs rampant through the state. It seems they get a little power and it goes to their heads. Must be republicans. They keep cutting back so it means more lay-offs and we are down to the bare bones already. And of course there are the 1 or 2 people who feel they are constantly being dumped on as compared to the ones who actually do the work. That is probably true everywhere you go...but since I have only worked for the state I have no real first hand experince but here.

interesting?!

I have been a state employee for a long time-longer than I care to mention here, anyway-there have been many a company picnic over the years and in general they have mostly sucked. But surprise, surprise, surprise. This years was nice. Actually even some fun. Any way-just thought that was interesting.

Have to give a shout out to my decorator...designs by patty...my new place (3 months at the end of the week) is looking great, and I couldn't have done it without her and her team. It is almost time for a fabulous cocktail party to show it off.
More about that when it happens.....

Just heard a (new?) song-Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution by the Black Crowes. Love it-love rock and roll.

amazing what a day without a boss can do for you. the work gets done (because you are not listening to them) and the day goes fast. my only co worker is out for the week (family business or not-it is their business) so that means this overworked employee is now double the overworked. but, again, it was ok because the boss was out.

just ran into my old boss-do miss her. she was awesome to work for (did i really just say that?). but yes, she was great-for awhile my coworker, myself and this awesome boss used to hang out together. then, like always-shit happens and no one was speaking to anyone-then the boss got a new job-the coworker left and i got to start all over again.

sad news

Just heard that a great guy who I have known for awhile, died over the weekend. He was a dedicated state employee and one heck of a nice guy. Never heard anyone say anything bad about him and he and his department interacted with every other dept from the President's office to the grounds folk. He will be sorely missed

So apparently I haven't posted in awhile and some of you are upset...may I remind you of the title of my blog..."overworked..."get it?
Working for the state (when it benefits the state) seem to have its perks...but this is an illusion. Everyone gets on the band wagon about how much time off we get (15 days vacation)...sounds great right? But 7 of them are for Christmas week and for 1 of those I have to use a vacation day -because we are closed). 2 days for Thanksgiving but it seems like everyone gets those. Memorial day, Labor day, Independence day-no brainers and Dr Martin Luther Kings BD. Still jealous? Somehow I don't think so.
